Nosotros ya rodamos con c\u00e1maras RED, as\u00ed que quisimos repasar los hechos con fuentes verificables. Aqu\u00ed tiene lo que est\u00e1 confirmado, lo que sigue poco claro y lo que significa en la pr\u00e1ctica para un proyecto de comunicaci\u00f3n en v\u00eddeo.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lo confirmado: la adquisici\u00f3n de RED por Nikon<\/h2>\n<p>El 12 de abril de 2024, Nikon anunci\u00f3 que hab\u00eda completado la adquisici\u00f3n de RED.com, LLC, el fabricante estadounidense de c\u00e1maras de cine digital. Seg\u00fan el comunicado de Nikon, la operaci\u00f3n abarca el 100 % de las participaciones de la empresa y entr\u00f3 en vigor el 8 de abril de 2024. Las condiciones econ\u00f3micas no se hicieron p\u00fablicas, as\u00ed que no citaremos ninguna cifra.<\/p>\n<p>En cuanto a la direcci\u00f3n, Keiji Oishi (Nikon) pas\u00f3 a ser CEO y Tommy Rios (RED) co-CEO, mientras que Jarred Land y el fundador James Jannard siguieron como asesores cercanos. Nikon tambi\u00e9n indic\u00f3 que no habr\u00eda \u00abning\u00fan cambio\u00bb en la gama actual de RED, sus socios ni su relaci\u00f3n con los distribuidores, y que se mantendr\u00edan garant\u00edas, reparaciones y soporte.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Qu\u00e9 cambia y qu\u00e9 no<\/h2>\n<ul><li><strong>La marca RED sigue viva.<\/strong> Las c\u00e1maras de cine RED (V-RAPTOR, KOMODO-X) se siguen vendiendo y con soporte. RED public\u00f3 incluso actualizaciones de firmware para V-RAPTOR y KOMODO-X el 1 de junio de 2026.<\/li>\n<li><strong>El R3D sigue siendo el formato RAW de RED.<\/strong> Ahora tambi\u00e9n aparece en una c\u00e1mara Nikon, como una variante llamada R3D NE.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Un acercamiento visible en Nikon.<\/strong> La Nikon ZR, anunciada el 10 de septiembre de 2025, es el primer cuerpo orientado al cine de Nikon que incorpora la ciencia del color de RED.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lo menos claro:<\/strong> la estrategia a largo plazo de RED dentro de Nikon no se ha detallado. Algunos observadores creen que RED se integra m\u00e1s en el ecosistema de Nikon; es una lectura de la prensa, no un hecho anunciado.<\/li><\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Las dos c\u00e1maras en el centro de la conversaci\u00f3n<\/h2>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">RED V-RAPTOR 8K VV<\/h3>\n<p>La V-RAPTOR es la c\u00e1mara de plat\u00f3 de RED. Seg\u00fan la documentaci\u00f3n oficial de RED, su sensor CMOS de 35,4 megap\u00edxeles mide 40,96 \u00d7 21,60 mm (diagonal de 46,31 mm), con 8192 \u00d7 4320 p\u00edxeles. \u00abVV\u00bb significa VistaVision, un gran formato m\u00e1s ancho que el full frame fotogr\u00e1fico. RED indica m\u00e1s de 17 pasos de rango din\u00e1mico, hasta 120 im\u00e1genes por segundo en 8K 17:9 (150 en 8K 2.4:1) y una montura RF integrada, con adaptadores para \u00f3pticas PL o EF. La c\u00e1mara existe en varias variantes: la [X] con obturador global, la XL y, desde noviembre de 2025, la V-RAPTOR XE, m\u00e1s ligera (1,81 kg) y asequible (14 995 $ en el lanzamiento), que mantiene la calidad de imagen de la gama pero prescinde de algunas funciones avanzadas.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Nikon ZR<\/h3>\n<p>La Nikon ZR se anunci\u00f3 el 10 de septiembre de 2025 y est\u00e1 disponible desde el 20 de octubre de 2025, por unos 2 200 $ solo el cuerpo en EE. UU. Es un cuerpo compacto de fotograma completo con montura Nikon Z, un sensor BSI semiapilado de 24,5 megap\u00edxeles, doble ISO nativo (800 y 6400) y m\u00e1s de 15 pasos de rango din\u00e1mico seg\u00fan la prensa especializada. Graba en R3D NE (RAW de 12 bits), N-RAW, ProRes RAW, adem\u00e1s de H.265 y H.264, hasta 6K a 60 fps en RAW. El RAW, en cambio, guarda los datos del sensor, con los ajustes almacenados aparte como metadatos. En posproducci\u00f3n se pueden ajustar la exposici\u00f3n, la temperatura de color o la curva de contraste sin degradar la imagen. Eso permite rescatar un plano subexpuesto, igualar dos planos rodados a horas distintas o adaptar la misma pieza a varios soportes.<\/p>\n<p>El R3D es el formato RAW de RED, basado en la compresi\u00f3n REDCODE. Esta compresi\u00f3n se aplica al propio RAW y se ajusta mediante una relaci\u00f3n: en la documentaci\u00f3n de RED para las c\u00e1maras DSMC2 va de 2:1 (m\u00e1xima calidad) a 22:1, con 8:1 por defecto; en la V-RAPTOR, los ajustes se presentan como niveles HQ, MQ y LQ. Cuanto mayor es la relaci\u00f3n, m\u00e1s ligero es el archivo, a cambio de algo de calidad. RED afirma que un RAW 8K puede pesar menos que un ProRes 4444 en 4K: es un argumento del fabricante, que conviene comprobar seg\u00fan la escena. En la pr\u00e1ctica, hay que prever capacidad de almacenamiento, copias de seguridad y un equipo de montaje capaz de leer estos archivos, o trabajar con proxies.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"tdp-fig\" Las relaciones de compresi\u00f3n del R3D NE no figuran en las fuentes que hemos consultado y preferimos no adivinarlas.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Una gama que se adapta a cada proyecto<\/h2>\n<p>Lo interesante de este acercamiento es la continuidad de imagen: un mismo universo de color y un mismo formato RAW, del cuerpo compacto a la c\u00e1mara de plat\u00f3. Para un proyecto, significa que se pueden combinar c\u00e1maras de distinto tama\u00f1o sin romper la est\u00e9tica de la pieza. Seg\u00fan el comunicado de Nikon, la operaci\u00f3n abarca el 100 % de las participaciones de la empresa y entr\u00f3 en vigor el 8 de abril de 2024. Las condiciones econ\u00f3micas no se hicieron p\u00fablicas, as\u00ed que no citaremos ninguna cifra.<\/p>\n<p>En cuanto a la direcci\u00f3n, Keiji Oishi (Nikon) pas\u00f3 a ser CEO y Tommy Rios (RED) co-CEO, mientras que Jarred Land y el fundador James Jannard siguieron como asesores cercanos. Seg\u00fan la documentaci\u00f3n oficial de RED, su sensor CMOS de 35,4 megap\u00edxeles mide 40,96 \u00d7 21,60 mm (diagonal de 46,31 mm), con 8192 \u00d7 4320 p\u00edxeles. \u00abVV\u00bb significa VistaVision, un gran formato m\u00e1s ancho que el full frame fotogr\u00e1fico. RED indica m\u00e1s de 17 pasos de rango din\u00e1mico, hasta 120 im\u00e1genes por segundo en 8K 17:9 (150 en 8K 2.4:1) y una montura RF integrada, con adaptadores para \u00f3pticas PL o EF. El RAW, en cambio, guarda los datos del sensor, con los ajustes almacenados aparte como metadatos. En posproducci\u00f3n se pueden ajustar la exposici\u00f3n, la temperatura de color o la curva de contraste sin degradar la imagen. Eso permite rescatar un plano subexpuesto, igualar dos planos rodados a horas distintas o adaptar la misma pieza a varios soportes.<\/p>\n<p>El R3D es el formato RAW de RED, basado en la compresi\u00f3n REDCODE. Esta compresi\u00f3n se aplica al propio RAW y se ajusta mediante una relaci\u00f3n: en la documentaci\u00f3n de RED para las c\u00e1maras DSMC2 va de 2:1 (m\u00e1xima calidad) a 22:1, con 8:1 por defecto; en la V-RAPTOR, los ajustes se presentan como niveles HQ, MQ y LQ. Cuanto mayor es la relaci\u00f3n, m\u00e1s ligero es el archivo, a cambio de algo de calidad. RED afirma que un RAW 8K puede pesar menos que un ProRes 4444 en 4K: es un argumento del fabricante, que conviene comprobar seg\u00fan la escena. Lo que le importa es la historia, el lugar, las personas en pantalla y d\u00f3nde se ver\u00e1 la pieza, no el logotipo del cuerpo.
