The story of AI in creative professions should not boil down to “which jobs will disappear?”. Another question arises: which job titles are appearing, and are they real professions or new skills folded into existing ones? We deliberately publish no employment statistics: this is a reading, not a census.

Job titles in circulation

  • Generative art director or “AI creative director”.
  • AI supervisor on a project.
  • Generative workflow specialist.
  • Curator of generated content.
  • Synthetic voice specialist.
  • AI consultant for artists and studios.
  • AI compliance and rights lead.

These titles describe real needs. Their lifespan remains to be seen.

What they have in common

Almost all rely on old functions: directing, choosing, checking, guaranteeing. An AI supervisor looks like a project manager; a generative art director like an art director who masters a new tool; a compliance lead like a lawyer or a producer attentive to rights.

Profession or skill?

In our view, the answer depends on the size of the need. In a large production, a dedicated role may be justified. In a small team, it is a skill carried by people already in place. The boundary is moving, and we remain cautious about labels.

What this changes for teams and clients

  • Learning the tool without losing sight of the project.
  • Clarifying who decides, who approves and who answers.
  • Documenting what was done by humans and what was assisted.
  • Choosing partners who can explain their method.

Key takeaway. Titles change fast; the functions of direction, choice and accountability remain. See our Business video.
